After you have successfully built your website the next step is gaining subscribers for your blog/ website.
You must be thinking that I’m crazy.
Maybe, getting your first 500 subscribers in 48 hours seems impossible to you. And, it was for me too, until I get them.
I’m here talking about 500 subscribers (realistic numbers) not 5000 or 10,000.
I know, Email Subscribers are always frustrating and it’s not easy to grow your list that too in short period of time.
While popular bloggers are flaunting about their fat big list of email subscribers, you are still struggling to get a handful of them.

You must be wondering, how in this world, is that possible? How could I do that for my blog?
Actually, it’s a lot easy.
All you have to do is to follow the exactly same things that I’m going to tell you.
But before that let us first understand what’s wrong out there. Why people are so reluctant to sign up your blog?
The Simple Reasons Why People Aren’t Signing Up to Your Blog.
The truth my friend is that they don’t find any valid reason to give you their email address.
Ask yourself this question, what benefits are you giving to your subscribers?
Do they actually get any advantage? Are you producing the content which is good enough to compel them to join your list?
If the answer is no, then why would they give you their email address?
Some of you might say, “Vishnu, I’m creating valuable content, even then there are hardly any email sign ups.”
And the answer to that is, “You are not bribing them. Period!”
The Secret of Growing Your Email List: Give Them Irresistible Bribe
You might have seen many promises like this before:
“Join our email list and get my free ebook X Ways to do Y.”
“Sign-up for my blog and get my My Secrets to achieve X in Y days (Even if you are Z).”
It might seem selfless offer of more free content, but this is the bribe.
Give me your email address and I will give you the content which isn’t freely available on my blog.
This is the bribe. Plain and simple.
Later, I analyzed that all the famous bloggers are giving something free to their audience: Their juicy little secrets to achieve success or some informative piece of content.
Therefore, I decided to give it a try. Let’s go through, how I increased my numbers exponentially.
Sign-Up Bribe That’ll Create a Tidal Wave of New Subscribers
Now, here, I’m going to reveal you this secret, how I created that bribe and how I gained 500 subscribers in just 48 hours! Let’s go through it.
Step 1- Pick your Topic Wisely
As my niche is Self-development and Motivation. I researched the topic on which I should make a free e-book.
This is the very important part, your freebie must solve the problems that your readers are facing otherwise it wouldn’t be much effective.
After a bit research, I analyzed that we people are lazy in doing the things quickly and struggle to find the pace. We often procrastinate our tasks, no matter how important they are.
Almost everybody find it hard to work on time, “so why shouldn’t I help them by teaching the ways to beat procrastination?”, I asked myself.
Therefore, I decided to make an e-Book on Procrastination.
Step 2- Have an Eye-Catching Headline.
Now after the topic, my e-book should have an eye-catching headline.
See, the headline of your e-book is as important as the inner content, if your title isn’t good enough, people aren’t going to sign-up anyway even if your inside content is great. You have to compel them by creating some irresistible headline.
I gave it title: The Cheat Sheet To Beat Procrastination and Getting Things Done
It took me around 1 hour to decide the topic and title. And after that, I moved on to create the content.
Step 3- Create the content for your e-book smartly.
I searched the topic “Procrastination” on google and checked the most popular articles on procrastination and ways to eliminate it. I shortlisted them and read them thoroughly.
You will get the dough of content online but it’s always present in the scattered form. All you have to do is to pick up the good points, leave the ordinary ones.
In two hours, I shortlisted the point which I will be covering in my e-book. And in next 6 hours, I jolted down all those points in my own writing style and included the motivational quotes and images in between.
Then I thought, to give something extra along with this e-book(people love add-ons).
After doing some brainstorming, I analyzed that why people would need this procrastination guide? And the answer was: To make their lifestyle more productive!
So why shouldn’t I add something which will help them to be more productive? So, I added- +15 Tools to Step 4- Help You to Enhance Your Productivity.
See, creating an e-book, doesn’t mean that you should start writing anything. You have to think about, what you’re going to provide to your readers and how it’s going to be beneficial for them.
Later I photoshopped the design and compiled all the things together in the form of a pdf.
Then, I uploaded it to my website and integrated it with the a whole new MailChimp account. This is the screenshot by my MailChimp account.
I didn’t create any landing page(because of the time shortage), I simply place it in the header and in the sidebar. Have a look.
It took me almost 12 straight hours to write 2500 words + designing + integrating it.(Look, I myself had crushed the procrastination).
Step 5. Drive Email Sign-ups like Crazy by Guest Posting.
Now the big question was, how people are going to find out about my e-Book? So, I decided to give it more visibility.
You cannot publicly announce that “Hey, I’m giving you something absolutely free.” The fact is, people don’t give a crap about you and your freebie.
In order to give my freebie more visibility, I decided to do a guest post.
Step 6. Find a Perfect Website related to your niche.
To get your free content noticed, find out the particular audience(website) which would be curious to read yours’ freebie, find out the right audience who would be the most interested in reading the topic around which you’ve made your e-book.
Do some research, you’ll find many authoritative websites to contribute your guest post.
Step 7. Write a Guest Post on the topic similar to your e-Book.
After finding the blog on which you’re going to guest post. Search down the topic which you can relate to your e-book.
In my case, I checked out the self-development blogs where my guest post would work. After doing some research, I choose PickTheBrain(I’ve already contributed on this website before, so I knew that it would be the best fit.)
They easily accept the guest post requests, provided that your content should be good enough.
I simply crafted the post related to the Procrastination: 20 Procrastination Quotes That Will Help You To Change Your Delaying Habits . Bang!
Step 8. Leave(only) the download link of your freebie.
Whenever you contribute a guest post. You are allowed to leave two or three links back to your blog and to other social media pages. And in that byline, include only the landing page of your freebie or where your sign up box is visible clearly.
I’ve included the direct link to my website allowing the users, actually bribing them, to enter their email address for sign-ups. Have a look.
Step 9. Submit your Guest Post and Wait for the magic to happen.
Now everything was done from my end. It was the time to submit the guest post and wait for something to happen.
As I was the regular contributor for PickTheBrain, the very next day, they accepted my blog post and published it! Bingo!
Step 10.Time to check the notifications!
As soon as my guest post was published, the traffic and sign-ups started pouring. They have the huge social media following, and when they shared my post on their social media profiles, stats went sky-high.
My link to get free e-book got the most leverage from it. And within the next 8-10 hours, my email list gained 370 subscribers.
And eventually, within a day, my email list goes across 500 sign ups. All that happened because of that one guest post! Here is the stat of my email list of that day:

You know why? Because they are your loyal readers and they are already familiar with you and your blog (as they have given their email address).
