Nexus Venture- The Silver Lining for Indian Startups
In the backdrop of ‘every 8/10 venture capital firms are foreign’- NASSCOM report, here comes news about Indian Venture capital firm growing big. Nexus Venture Partners became the first home grown firm to reach $ 1 billion in assets after they raised new fund of $ 450 million.
Nexus has been the early investor in Snapdeal, Delhivery, Shopclues, Craftsvilla, Stayzilla, OLX, amongst others. The firm is interested in tech-enable business in sectors like consumer retail, financial services, healthcare, education, and enterprise and software companies.
Nexus venture’s focus has been the seed stage or early stage investment and is expected to be same. Incepted in 2006, the firm has raised 4 rounds of investments worth $1.2 billion, second to Sequoia that has raised $2.2 billion.
This is certainly the good news for startups who were disappointed by Tiger Global’s intent to invest in other countries than India, after it raised fresh global fund of $2.5 billion a week before.
